Remember the simpler times when we used to swap photos with friends using infrared and bluetooth. Now with the plethora of options available on android Google is about to make it even easier, and there’s a new name in town: Quick Share!
The Inside Scoop:
Eagle-eyed Google leak source Kamila Wojciechowska dropped the bomb recently, revealing the rebranding through a notification spotted after installing an Android update. This exciting news comes over three years after Nearby Share’s debut in 2020 and, interestingly enough, mirrors the name used by Samsung for its similar feature.
💦It seems like Google's renaming Nearby Share to… Quick Share, which is also the name for the Samsung's file sharing solution? uhhhhh
Today I received a GMS update to the version 23.50.13 and, soon after that, the notification from the screenshot above. The update as well as… pic.twitter.com/RkobYEMIw4

What’s Happening?
For everyone with an Android phone, sharing files has been done through “Nearby Share.” But for Samsung users, there’s another option called “Quick Share.” Now, it seems Google might be changing Nearby Share’s name to Quick Share, bringing everyone under the same roof!
Why’s This Cool?
This means no more confusion for those with Samsung phones – one name, one game! No more accidentally picking the wrong one and making things frustrating. Plus, imagine faster sharing, maybe even between Samsung and non-Samsung phones!
The Mystery Deepens:
We don’t yet know if Nearby Share and Quick Share will fully merge or simply become friends. Either way, it’s a win for everyone!
