Instagram is testing a new feature that would allow users to share feed posts with their close friends only. This is in response to user complaints about the impersonal nature of the social network, which is largely due to its algorithmic feed.
The feature is currently being tested in a few countries, but it is not yet clear when it will be rolled out to everyone. If it becomes widely available, it could reduce the need for users to have a “finsta” account, which is an alternative account that is only used to share posts with close friends.

Instagram has been trying to find ways to make the platform more personal for users. In 2018, it launched a feature that allowed users to share Stories with a private list of close friends. The company also tried to create a group chat app called Threads for Instagram’s close friends circle, but it was shut down in 2021.
Last December, Instagram launched Notes, a way to share text updates with friends. The company has also introduced features such as music sharing, translation, and location sharing for Notes.
The new feature to share feed posts with close friends is just the latest in Instagram’s efforts to make the platform more personal. It remains to be seen how popular the feature will be, but it is a sign that the company is listening to user feedback.
